Liaoning Communist Party official flees country over graft probe

A top Communist Party official in Dandong , Liaoning , fled the mainland four months ago to escape investigation, a local party official confirmed yesterday amid rumours he is now in the United States with 200 million yuan (HK$244 million) in ill-gotten gains.

A fancy, spacious new town where no one wants to live

Share issue to cover toll-roads deal

GUANGZHOU Investment Co is to issue almost $68 million worth of new shares to cover costs of four toll roads in northern Guangdong that it will buy from parent Yue Xiu Enterprises.

Guangzhou Investment said last night it entered into a conditional agreement with Yue Xiu to acquire a 55 per cent stake in the Xinfeng Toll Roads.
