Christie's will present the very best of Bordeaux on Saturday. Going under the hammer is a collection of first growths and second wines, most of which were sourced directly from the chateaux.

Vinexpo is a Bordeaux-based organisation and, not surprisingly, the region is strongly represented at Vinexpo Asia-Pacific 2010.

Altogether 143 exhibitors or groups of exhibitors from Bordeaux will be present and they have taken 18 per cent of the exhibition space.

Heady stuff in quest for weird and wonderful

THE fourth wine appreciation class, with Chris Baker, focused on fine wines. Since these were not feasible for the tastings, the subhead was: ''The cheapest of the best and the best of the cheapest.'' With the Bordeaux region producing at least 80 per cent of all the world's fine wines, this was the main focus of study.
