Criticism over land payout proposals

THE Lands Tribunal plans to settle outstanding compensation claims over land resumption in the first days of the new Provisional Urban Renewal Authority, which begins operation next month.

Deputy Secretary for Planning and Lands Stephen Fisher said on Commercial Radio yesterday rulings on the outstanding claims would help other owners understand the compensation guidelines.

Fishermen feared dead as search proves fruitless

Six mainland fishermen were still missing feared dead after a fruitless air and sea search off Po Toi Island yesterday.

The six, aged between 21 and 42, were asleep in a cabin when their vessel, Luk Fung 28075, collided with a 25,800-tonne oil tanker, Dignity, in the East Lamma Channel, 5.5km west of the island at about 8.30pm on Sunday.
