TWRA to raise currency surcharge

The Transpacific Westbound Rate Agreement (TWRA) is to increase its currency adjustment factor (CAF) surcharges on Japan and Taiwan cargo by 1 to 6 per cent from January 1.

Rate body to adjust currency, fuel fees

The Transpacific Westbound Rate Agreement (TWRA) will adjust its currency and fuel surcharges from January 1.

The TWRA, a rate-setting group of 11 ocean and intermodal carriers, said this was due to the continued strengthening of the US dollar against some Asian currencies, and a rise in marine fuel prices during the autumn months.

Anderson to lead TWRA

The Transpacific Westbound Rate Agreement has named executive administrator William Anderson to the post of managing director following a management reorganisation.

Mr Anderson, who has served as administrator since the rate-making body's inception in 1985, will chair meetings and represent the body in TWRA discussions and public forums.

TWRA to cut cost factors

TRANSPACIFIC Westbound Rate Agreement (TWRA) will lower its currency adjustment factor (CAF) and fuel adjustment factor (FAF) surcharges next month.

TWRA said the move followed strengthening of the US dollar in Asian markets and a decline in fuel prices in key trans-Pacific markets.
