Icy Bet can go distance

TODAY'S third event should throw up a likely quinella return from the combination of Icy Bet, Enthusiasm and Concert Boss.

A NINE-week wait ended for English rider Dean McKeown at 2.19 pm yesterday when Fortune Duke (7-1) took the third race at Sha Tin in a battling finish with Icy Bet (7-1).

McKeown, whose official link with the Geoff Lane stable was one of the surprise engagements of the season, had been waiting since opening day on September 12 for his first Hong Kong winner.

The seven-year-old New Zealand import has won at both tracks and caused a couple of major surprises against top-line opposition in his Hong Kong career.
