Japanese forwarders step up advance into Asian market

A Japan International Freight Forwarders Association (Jiffa) survey reveals the number of Asian subsidiaries set up by Japanese freight forwarders is increasing rapidly, reflecting their vigorous advance into this market.

The survey covering 151 of 236 Jiffa member firms as of October 1 shows 121 Japanese forwarders have established 135 subsidiaries in Asian countries.

Beijing tightens laws for freight agents

CHINA has incorporated penal provisions in the recently promulgated regulations covering the international freight forwarding agency business.

Under the new rules, severe punishment will be meted out to forwarders violating the provisions, including warning, suspension of business, consolidation, unification and abrogation of licences.
