Frankwell Commodities, part of the group which landed itself in hot water with US regulators in 1994, has been disciplined by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) for breaches of commodities and leveraged foreign exchange trading rules.

Mansion face deadline

Mansion have until tomorrow to confirm their future in the First Division before the Hong Kong Football Association decides on the fixtures for the new season. Frankwell, meanwhile, have withdrawn from the league altogether. They were supposed to play in the Second Division, but pulled out when team manager Fung Shiu-wai said he was leaving the club.

Super Commercial Cup finalists Frankwell will fly the territory's colours - with a little help from their friends - at the Merlion Cup in Singapore in September.

South Korean Olympic player to face assault charges

South Korean Olympic player Jung Jae-kun appears in Eastern Magistrate this morning facing charges of assault on Ukrainian Dmitri Bazelevski.

Jung faces charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm after throwing a punch at Bazelevski during a stormy encounter between Bazelevski's Frankwell and the South Korean Olympic team in last Sunday's Super Commercial Cup.

Venables flies in to vet troubled pitch

England manager Terry Venables arrives in Beijing tomorrow on a mission.

Venables will inspect the suitability of the Workers' Stadium - venue of England's game against the Chinese national squad on May 23 - hoping the pitch will be up not be declared dangerous.

Last season, Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman broke his ankle when his club played there.

Mansion ease relegation worry

Mansion took a giant step away from relegation danger with a 2-0 victory over Club in a First Division match at the Mongkok Stadium last night.

The victory consolidated Mansion's eighth position in the 10-team competition with 20 points, five ahead of ninth placed Frankwell with both teams each having only two outstanding games remaining the second phase.
