Soprano hits the high notes in journey to Beijing

Soprano Elizabeth Connell described her debut performance with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in Beijing as a wonderful journey.

'My experience of China has been Macau, Hong Kong and now the real capital, Beijing. It's been going step by step, up to the top,' she said.

Connell said the orchestra had a good grasp of Wagner's music style.

HK pianist excels at top European contest

Hong Kong pianist Shum Kin-wai has won fourth prize in the Internationaler Schubert Wettbewerb Klavier, or International Piano Competition Schubert, in Dortmund, Germany. The teacher at Baptist University finished ahead of 37 rivals from 14 countries or regions after four rounds.
