Arts Preview: When Rick met Marsha … a Cabaret

When Rick Lau first met Marsha Yuan, both knew it wasn't just by chance.

In May, the two veteran performers sat down at a cast meeting for the theatre production I-Ching, which premiered in Los Angeles in September, and they connected immediately.

Just like poetry, choreographer Kirsten Ho Sien-ying's latest offering is peppered with contemplative pauses. End Stop Line comprises six vignettes, each beginning with a line of text.

Artistic impressions

Finally, it appears, the long-awaited renovations at the Fringe Club's heritage premises on Lower Albert Road will go ahead. I first heard about this project about three years ago when its management told me they had secured HK$24 million from the Hong Kong Jockey Club for the work. It was all quite exciting.

The story headlined 'Fringe Club makeover finally on the cards' in yesterday's CitySeen, wrongly identified Fringe Club director Benny Chia Chun-heng as being in the accompanying photograph. It was in fact Professor Poon Chung-kwong, President Emeritus of Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Fringe Club makeover finally on the cards after 26 years, thanks to HK$3m donation

It's been a long time coming, but Central arts hub, the Fringe Club, is finally getting a makeover in July. But before the refit was approved, honorary treasurer Anson Chan had to step in with a HK$3 million donation to top up the non-profit's operating budget.
