Less than two hours from Hong Kong and comprising 7,107 tropical islands, the Philippines makes for an ideal weekend getaway. But surprisingly few Hongkongers visit the archipelago compared to more popular spots in the region such as Bali or Phuket.

Manila: Benpres Holdings plans to expand the 15-hectare Rockwell Centre in Makati, Manila either via a joint venture with landowners or outright acquisition of properties nearby, BusinessWorld reported, quoting company chief operating officer Xavier Gonzales. Mr Gonzales said the 15-hectare mixed-use development had the potential of doubling its size.

Rethink for Metro Pacific

Metro Pacific, First Pacific's flagship in the Philippines, has returned a 64-hectare plot within the 214-hectare Fort Bonifacio project in Manila to the country's government.

The move freed Metro Pacific - via Bonifacio Land Corp - from paying 8.8 billion pesos (about HK$1.69 billion) it owed the government.
