Swarovski book makes things crystal clear

At the risk of sounding like US TV presenter Robin Leach, it's good to be rich and famous. Check this: crystal designers Swarovski have just released a coffee-table book called A World of Beauty full of glittering photos about its designs.

Rosettes and roses are the must-have details for this season and Alexandre de Paris has imbued a series of hair accessories with the romantic flower theme. Hairpins, brooches and hair bands are sculpted in soft nappa leather and suede. Some petals are individually wired to keep the rose in a bud or to let it blossom.

Glass maker eyes cost cuts with opening of new plant

Zhejiang Glass of Jiangsu province has begun a trial run of a 1.6 billion yuan production line with the opening of the first phase of a soda ash plant in Qinghai province, which is expected to lower glass production costs significantly.

Trap the light fantastic

For Cicy Ching Sze-yin, glass is more than just windowpanes or something you can drink out of - it's art. And the studio jeweller says she's determined to show people how beautiful it can be.

Ching is one of five glass artists from around the world featured in an exhibition, Tangents and Dispersions, which opened yesterday.
