Cleaner reaches cautious heights

Wong Kam-wah, 52, takes to the air every day - as a window-cleaner. He worked as a regular cleaner with his feet firmly on the ground for a few years, before boarding the gondola in which he sometimes travels 60 floors up the side of buildings. He is married and has a daughter.

ON the front page of the South China Morning Post, on January 24, there was a photograph and short report about how two window cleaners had a brush with death when the gondola they were using malfunctioned at the 22nd floor.

High-rise window men cheat death

TWO window cleaners had a brush with death yesterday afternoon when their gondola collapsed, throwing one out of the rig and leaving the other dangling from the 18th floor.

The two were cleaning windows on the 22-storey Lee Theatre Plaza in Causeway Bay when a motor on their gondola jammed.
