Gorilla famed for using tools reveals new level of intimacy with mate

Feeding fine for teenagers

TWO girls and a boy were each fined $200 in the Magistrates Court yesterday for feeding gorillas in the Zoological and Botanical Gardens.

The three teenagers were caught by a guard as they were feeding the gorillas with biscuits and grapes last year. A spokesman for the Urban Services Department said signs prohibiting feeding were put up in the gardens.

Close encounters of the animal kind

WHAT do you do when confronted by a 135kg silverback gorilla? Adopt standard safety procedure, the submissive stance - head lowered, eyes downcast - and keep very, very still. Okay, so what do you do if a rhino charges you? Run, of course.
