Beachgoer stabbed by fly-away umbrella

A sunbather was stabbed in the chest by a beach umbrella picked up by a gust of wind at Clear Water Bay yesterday.

Bus driver Kwok Ting-hon, 57, was in intensive care in hospital last night with a 5cm wound.

He had been enjoying the dragon boat holiday with his family at the bay's Second Beach when the accident happened at around 2.30pm.

Blunder may have killed patient

A blunder may have killed a heart patient who died after his operation was televised to an international medical meeting, Grantham Hospital admitted yesterday.

The 59-year-old patient died within minutes of a laser angioplasty performed by US and Hong Kong specialists and watched by top cardiologists on Tuesday.
