Given the fact I've lately been popping up on the telly embarrassedly rapping the words 'great entertainment never stops on Pearl', this might be an appropriate time to play things straight down the middle critically. Scorsese spins a taut tale on con game

JOHN Cusack and Annette Bening team up with director Martin Scorsese to spin a taut tale in The Grifters (Astor Classics). The backcloth is set in Los Angeles where lives many swindlers.

Among them Myra (Bening), who uses her looks and charm to lure rich Texans into elaborate cons, is looking for a partner. One day, she bumps into Roy (Cusack) who is a single con artist.
