I could live on Bangkok street food because it's so inexpensive, varied and (usually) delicious. The Thai capital does have good restaurants - I've been to a few of them - but street food has an immediacy about it that I love: you see someone serving something that looks interesting, look around to see if others are enjoying it, point to what you want, then eat it and, after you've finished (or not, if it turns out to look better than it tastes), you hand over a few baht.Sunday, 30 September, 2012, 12:00am

As I sit writing this from the 16th floor of a friend's Bangkok condominium, I don't think I have ever been quite so grateful to be high and blissfully dry.
However, as the vast volume of water from Thailand's central plains threatens to envelope the capital, I find it hard to share the panicked trepidation of the city's residents.28 Oct 2011 - 12:00am
