Lee's bullishness might seem surprising to those that have followed the soccer-mad vocalist's career given a recent statement that not many fans turned out to see his concerts in 1995.

Baby for star couple

Another baby has been born to a celebrity family in this auspicious Year of the Pig. Singer Hacken Lee Hak-kan and former Miss Hong Kong Emily Lo Suk-yi's baby boy, Ryan, made his debut appearance on Monday.

The news was disclosed by veteran singer and friend Alan Tam Wing-lun, who is in Suzhou attending the Golden Rooster and Full Blossom Film Festival.

Singer hits back at gossip

Singer Hacken Lee Hak-kan has lashed out at a recent report that he is suffering from depression.

'I got an SMS from a friend who read the article, asking me if I need some medication for depression,' Lee said. 'Why do people have to have such bad intentions towards others? We [Lee and his pregnant wife] are living happily.'

Lee takes copycats to task

Singer Hacken Lee Hak-kan has pleaded with fans to stop illegally downloading music because they're getting poor quality recordings.

'Illegal downloading is a long- term problem and we have to educate people [to purchase the songs that they download online]. It's hurting the music industry, particularly the record companies who can't make money releasing CDs.'

Lee's lucky role

Hacken Lee had a good start to the year, after scooping the first award of the night at the RTHK countdown event at Times Square on New Year's Eve. 'It's a good omen,' he said.

The past year has treated the 39-year-old Canto-pop singer well. His albums sold briskly and in November he tied the knot with former Miss Hong Kong Emily Lo Suk-yee.
