Elderly woman dies after being hit by truck

A 77-year-old woman died after being knocked down by a truck in Tsim Sha Tsui yesterday. She was crossing Hankow Road near the junction with Haiphong Road when the accident happened at about 10.30am. She was trapped under the vehicle and had to be freed by firemen. She was taken unconscious to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where she was declared dead shortly after 11am.

Two hold up jewel shop

Two men in surgical masks carrying a pistol-like object and a crowbar rushed into the Ise Jewellery shop in The Peninsula Shopping Arcade in Tsim Sha Tsui at 6.30pm yesterday.

The robbers pointed the weapons at staff and declared a robbery.

James Bond's old watering hole, Bottoms Up, goes on the market

Bottoms Up, the bar which - in its original, Tsim Sha Tsui cellar location - rose to fame after appearing in the James Bond film The Man With The Golden Gun, is up for sale.

Manager Vitus Cheung said the bar's shareholders believed that after 36 years of service, Bottoms Up, now a first-floor watering hole in Lockhart Road, Wan Chai, could be the oldest in Hong Kong.

The man who gave the world 'sweaty' yoga is to visit Hong Kong next week. Bikram Choudhury (below), self-professed inventor of Bikram yoga - he practised in rooms kept at 40.5 degrees Celsius - and the man who trademarked a bunch of yogi moves much to the dismay of other yoga teachers, will be in town on Monday to look over his new club on the fourth floor of 17 Hankow Road, Tsim Sha Tsui.
