Couple in attempted beheading-suicide case were being sued for HK$13.8m

Peng Chi-hui was stabbed more than 100 times and almost decapitated on Sunday, March 17, before Wong Suk-kan leapt to her death from the 77th floor of their apartment in The Harbourside building. It has emerged that the couple were being sued by Censun Limited over repayment of a loan.

A woman leapt to her death from a luxury apartment block in Kowloon West yesterday after she is believed to have attempted to behead her partner in the city's third suspected murder case uncovered in as many days, police said.

Hang Lung to cash in at Long Beach

Five years after it sold flats at Long Beach in West Kowloon for the last time, Hang Lung Properties yesterday said it would sell another 108 flats there - this time at its Tower 8.

The average price of the flats would be HK$10,580 per sq ft, the company said. Prices of second-hand flats at the same project are going for between HK$8,700 and HK$11,000 per sq ft.

Transactions in luxury properties last year outperformed the overall market, with homes in excess of HK$20 million reaching a record 3.3 per cent of total transactions, according to Hong Kong Property. The number of deals at that level fell 2 per cent in 2010 to 2,867, even though total sales reached HK$109 billion, up 6 per cent.

Dismal vista

I write to express my dismay at the winning proposal for the West Kowloon Reclamation Competition. Among any number of concerns, here are a few:

the focal marina area is introspective and neglects the view to Hong Kong island. The lagoon also risks stagnation due to the enclosed tidal and climatic layout;
