Hardwick honoured

JOE Hardwick has been made an honorary member of the British Professional Golfers' Association, writes Spencer Robinson.

'It came as a total surprise. It's a great honour,' said Hardwick, who retires from his post as senior professional at the Royal Hong Kong Golf Club at the end of March.

FILIPINA teenager Carmelette Villaroman held off the challenge of Hongkong's Joann Hardwick to win the Philippine Open women's amateur championship in Manila yesterday.

Five shots behind Villaroman overnight, Hardwick reduced the gap to three over the final round but could not catch the 16-year-old prodigy.
