I refer to the letter from Lawrence Johnstone headlined, 'Wasteful', which appeared in the Sunday Morning Post, on September 24, concerning roadworks being conducted in Harlech Road on Sundays.
For the past four months or so the Highways Department has had contractors employed on Harlech Road on the Peak.
I say 'employed' since working is not really the word to describe...
May I ask the Agriculture and Fisheries Department's country parks division, through these columns, to consider the wisdom of its present tree-planting programme at Harlech Road at the Peak?
Certainly, we all want our slopes to be safe, but who in the world chooses the colour to be sprayed on this moonscape? Purple on Barker Road, mauve on Kennedy Road, and now a surreal blue/ green...
