KCR to boost peak-time services

The number of KCR trains running at peak times will increase from 20 to 24 under a new control system.

East Rail carries about 750,000 passengers and 37,000 tonnes of freight a day, with passenger demand rising five per cent a year.

Minibuses had empty seats

I refer to H. W. Ho's letter headlined, 'Service needs to be improved', which appeared in the South China Morning Post, on September 6.

Green minibus (GMB) route 10 runs between Causeway Bay and Sandy Bay from 6.30am to 9pm daily, while GMB route 10A travels between Central and Sandy Bay from 8am to 8pm daily. Their headways at peak hours are six and 15 minutes respectively.

Drivers just dreadful

WHY are driving standards so poor in Hongkong? I suspect youngsters grow up first experiencing the very poor quality of bus and taxi driving, so it is not easy to re-educate. There should certainly be a major review of these standards and I suggest a revision of tests and licensing to reflect this.

Top Glory on way up

WELL, everyone at Sha Tin would have seen it - the outstanding run of the very promising private purchase griffin, Top Glory, who is trained by Chris Cheung Ting-pong and was ridden by Johnny Ho.

He was restrained early before making very good headway from the corner to finish a very strong third to the useful Mighty Mighty.
