Residents call on city to bury hearse problem

Funeral homes and car repair shops among big issues in the Kowloon City District.

The constant presence of hearses from nearby funeral homes and noise from car repair shops are two major concerns for residents that emerged from a public consultation on redevelopment of the Kowloon City District.

A charity is offering elderly people on welfare the chance of a free luxury hearse for their funerals in the hope of easing anxiety they may have about the quality of the day's arrangements.

Welfare agency St James' Settlement has joined with Kung Sau Funeral Service to offer the city's first $1.5 million 'Binz' hearse, which is built on the Mercedes-Benz E-class model.

Arrest warning as newsmen jostle for view

POLICE were yesterday forced to calm mourners and threaten jostling newsmen with arrest at the funerals of Andely Chan and Tse Chun-fung.
