Exco man named to head MPF authority

Executive councillor Henry Fan Hung-ling has been appointed chairman of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority, putting paid to speculation he would become a government minister in July.

He takes over from fellow councillor Charles Lee Yeh-kwong next month and will serve for two years.

Group to monitor top officials entering private sector

A three-member advisory committee has been established to draw up principles on employing ministers after they leave government.

Principal officials should seek the advice of the committee before beginning new jobs, becoming a director or partner or starting any business or profession within one year after stepping down from office under the Code for Principal Officials.

Fan reappointed SFC director

Citic Pacific managing director Henry Fan Hung-lin has been reappointed a non-executive director of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC). Financial Services Secretary Rafael Hui said Mr Fan's appointment would be from November 15, to November 14, 1999.
