Local author gives Hong Kong its own 'Tintin'

It is a happy coincidence that The Adventures of Tintin is showing in Hong Kong cinemas the same week a new children's book that takes its inspiration from the Belgian comic classic was launched.

Tintin is the fictional Belgian star of 23completed - and one unfinished - colourful comic books created by the Belgian artist George Remi between 1929 and his death in 1983.

Tintin creator's passion for China

CERTAIN T-SHIRT ICONS dominate across the globe: Homer Simpson, SpongeBob SquarePants, Bob Marley, Che Guevara ... and an ageless Belgian lad called Tintin.

Despite having an indeterminate young adult appearance, Tintin is actually one year 'older' than Che, having come into this world, albeit on the printed page only, in 1929.
