Adidas model Charlene Choi filled with Olympic spirit

Adidas' autumn-winter collection will be in the stores on Friday, amid the buzz of the London Olympics. The sportswear brand's campaign girl, Charlene Choi Cheuk-yin of Canto-pop duo Twins, said she had been glued to the television watching the Games.

A dressing down for Olympic garb

At the charity polo event on Saturday at Andrew Lloyd Webber's estate, I saw Hong Kong superstar Aaron Kwok rub shoulders with Prince Harry, who was playing.

The event, sponsored by Hong Kong-owned Kent & Curwen, raised money for charities supported by Harry and Prince William and shed some light on the relationship between style sponsorship and high-profile sports.

Mother and daughter in family one-two finish

Tracy and Alexandra Troy completed a family one-two by placing first and second in the women's race during round one of the AVOHK Adidas 5K Series at Tai Tam yesterday. Mum Tracy took the honours with a time of 21 minutes and 18 seconds, while daughter Alexandra, a 16-year-old Rhode Island high school student visiting for the summer holidays, came second in 21:53.

A step in the right direction

In a bid to steer teenage girls away from drugs and petty crime, sportswear company Reebok, which is now a subsidiary of the adidas Group, has been running programmes to help at-risk girls in the United States since the early 1980s.

Adidas in Hong Kong followed that lead and launched its own Step One initiative in August 2008.

Hou Rui, 23, was happy to get a job in the largest adidas store in the world. Adidas was the first shop to open in 'The Village', a brightly-coloured mall developed by Swire Properties in the heart of Beijing's bar and embassy district of Sanlitun. Hou, a Harbin native, has been living in the capital for three years.
