The sleeved tops and running capris have been pushed to the back of my wardrobe, and the tank tops, singlets and shorts that have been in hibernation since November last year have regained prime position. As the beads of sweat trickle down my forehead five minutes after jogging out my front door, I am reminded again that summer is nearly here in Hong Kong.

Ben Swee, a Singapore running coach and fitness trainer, recently made two trips to Hong Kong in the span of three weeks. Unlike most visitors here, however, the main draw wasn’t the food, the finance hub, of the famed Lan Kwai Fong parties. It was the running.

A foodies haven, a finance hub, a party town - Hong Kong is all of these things. And the time is ripe to add "a hiker's heaven" to the list, with record numbers of runners and hikers flocking to the city's extensive network of nature trails.
