Chinese tech firms pump up volume at CES show in Las Vegas

Chinese high-tech companies have showcased some of the most eye-popping gear at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week, bidding to reverse their lack of global brand recognition.

Whirlpool and Hisense forge 900m yuan venture

Kelon expects first-half turnaround

Guangdong Kelon Electrical Holdings, China's biggest refrigerator maker, expects to return to the black in the first half this year as controlling shareholder Hisense Group plans to inject air-conditioner and refrigerator assets into the company.

Kelon posted a net profit of 21 million yuan in the first quarter, compared with a net loss of 82.5 million yuan a year ago.
