Points of view on the local poverty issue

In the sixth round of the 12th Nesta-SCMP Debating Competition, TWGHs Kap Yan Directors' College eliminated Hoi Ping Chamber of Commerce Secondary School to earn a spot in the semi-finals. The schools met on December 7 to debate the motion: 'Hong Kong is not doing enough to take care of its poor.' Kap Yan were the affirmative side, with Hoi Ping taking the negative stance.

Public safety for women is lacking

The idea that new CCTV cameras should be installed and other measures taken to defend women against indecent assaults on trains has stirred up debate in Hong Kong.

I am on the side of those who think that improved surveillance systems can help decrease assaults and other crimes on the MTR.

Friends in mourning

Friends and classmates yesterday mourned 16-year-old Hung Hoi-wai, who fell to her death on Monday. Hoi-wai wanted to go out to celebrate her birthday but was stopped by her parents. Around 6am on Monday, she climbed out of the window of her third-floor flat in Kowloon City Road and fell to her death.

Marcus H. Langston - I thought this was the point in the investment for the A380-capable airway bridges and infrastructure that's already been spent ... larger but fewer aircraft. Therefore, no need for a third runway, especially if China opens up its airspace.
