Injuries haunt Kitchee

Kitchee completed a meaningless 3-2 victory over Citizen in the final league match of the season at Mong Kok Stadium yesterday.

Kitchee ended level with South China on 42 points after 18 matches, but the title race had already been settled when the Caroliners defeated Lanwa Redbull 3-1 three days ago and captured the trophy with a better head-to-head record against Kitchee.

Julius Akosah found the net twice as Kitchee scored a 2-0 win over Hong Kong 08 and advanced to the semi-finals of the Lanwa International FA Cup at Mong Kok Stadium yesterday. In the other match Rangers scraped through to the last four with a 1-0 win over Football Club.

Records fell at Football Club Ground last night as Hong Kong 08 registered their first victory in the League in two seasons after the team was set up.

Thanks to a late goal from Chan Man-fai, 08 beat Hong Kong Football Club 2-1 in front of 24 fans who brought tickets to watch the match.

Citizen arrest Club's amazing league run

Citizen ended Hong Kong Football Club's remarkable run in the Coolpoint Ventilation Hong Kong First Division when they won 1-0 at Sports Road last night.

Leung Chun-pong scored from the spot in the 14th minute after So Yiu-man was brought down by Club goalkeeper Ho Kwok-chuen as Citizen earned a surprise victory to overhaul Club in eighth place in the table.

Coolpoint extend First Division sponsorship

Coolpoint Ventilation have extended their sponsorship of the Hong Kong First Division for another three years in a deal worth at least HK$1.5 million, sources said.

Coolpoint, title sponsors of the league for the past two seasons, offered some relief for the Hong Kong Football Association, which has seen a steady decline in match attendances.
