Laws 'not serving associate-degree providers'

Laws governing post-secondary institutions fail to cover those offering associate-degree programmes and need revising, a college of technology head said this week.

Chan Cheuk-hay, president of the Hong Kong College of Technology, said a law to govern post-secondary institutions enacted during the 1970s failed to meet the needs of associate-degree programmes.

Evening student may sit again next year

Former factory worker Elaine Wong Lai-mui - who spoke yesterday of her struggle to attend Form Five evening classes while working - scored only a few points.

'I have failed the major subjects, including Chinese, in which I'm most confident,' said Ms Wong, who was reluctant to disclose her grades. She earned a pass in geography, Chinese history and economics.
