Cyber-heads query posse of pirates

The Hong Kong Computer Society has been helping out our Government.

They just sent a letter of advice to the Security Bureau.

It's entitled 'Comments on Inter-departmental Working Group on Computer-Related Crime Report'.

Overall, the IT gang is pretty pleased with our administration's efforts.

But there is one slight problem.

THE Hong Kong Computer Society will hold the 18th Annual Computer Conference '95 on September 27th and 28th, with the theme 'Networking Towards 2000'.

Topics include client/server technology, desktop strategy and multimedia networking.

Qualified support for data 'laws'

THE Hong Kong Computer Society (HKCS) has given only qualified support to recommendations for new legislation on data protection.

The recommendations were made earlier this year by the Law Reform Commission's privacy committee.

The HKCS wants greater exemptions under the law for data held for education and research purposes.
