A sea of flowers to charm visitors

About 600 students used more than 30,000 flowers to create a colourful mosaic that will be on display at the annual Flower Show this month.

The students, from 20 schools, joined efforts at Victoria Park last Saturday to assemble the mosaic An Ocean Fantasy.

Let your talent bloom

A flower drawing competition will be held at next month's Hong Kong Flower Show.

Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Nanyang Commercial Bank, the competition is open to primary and secondary students.

The organisers hope the event will encourage young people to love plants and nature.

Victoria Park in full bloom

The annual Hong Kong Flower Show will be held from Friday till March 20 at Victoria Park in Causeway Bay.

Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the show aims to promote the study of flowers and a green environment.

This year, the rhododendron has been selected as the theme flower.

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) is inviting applicants to take part in the 2001 Hong Kong Flower Show's open and school competitions. Horticulturists, flower enthusiasts and schools should not miss this opportunity to showcase their masterpieces.

Applications will be accepted until January 31.

Bids to bloom

The auction for commercial stalls for the Hong Kong Flower Show will be held on Wednesday at the Urban Council complex on Lockhart Road, Wan Chai. The flower show will be held from March 10-19, at Victoria Park.

Top chance for shutterbugs

Shutterbugs have a chance to win prizes at this year's Hong Kong Flower Show in Sha Tin.

Organised by the Provisional Regional and Urban councils, the event will be opened by the Chief Executive's wife Betty Tung on March 12.

The photography competition, co-organised by TVB, is open to people of all ages who visit the flower show between March 12 and 21.

Flower show break

The Hong Kong Flower Show in Sha Tin will close from 2 pm until 9 pm tomorrow for exhibitors to ensure colourful displays for the second half of the 10-day show. It re-opens on Wednesday at 9 am and runs until 9 pm Sunday.
