Summer show at Science Museum

An exhibition featuring student science projects opens tomorrow at the Hong Kong Science Museum.

The exhibition will be held as part of the museum's just opened 'Summer Science Weeks', which includes more than 100 programmes.

Visitors will find other exhibitions, science demonstrations, family workshops, films, lectures and games.

A new exhibition, Virtual Aquarium, is on at the Hong Kong Science Museum until March 9.

Visitors will be able to experience a computer-generated underwater environment featuring 3D images of dolphins and other marine creatures swimming through a virtual aquarium.

All the best seats for this show were snapped up days after tickets went on sale. However, if you want to try your luck, there might just be a few seats left for Sound of Colours, a stage production based on the book of the same title by popular Taiwanese illustrator Jimmy Liao Fu-bin. This programme is part of the Macau Arts Festival 2004.

Virtual design contest

The Hong Kong Science Museum is organising a Virtual Exhibit Design Competition to raise interest in multimedia technology and encourage the use of virtual exhibits in science communication. Contestants must design an interactive virtual exhibit on optics or symmetry in Web format. Deadline is April 8.

Nasa astronaut set to give lectures in Hong Kong

Dr George Nelson, a National Aeronautics and Space Agency (Nasa) astronaut who flew as a mission specialist aboard three space shuttle flights, will be visiting the Hong Kong Science Museum on October 21.

He will meet teachers, educators and the public to promote science and technology education and share his experiences of being in space.
