Kitchee's late blitz sends them to League Cup final

Three goals in extra time fired Kitchee into the League Cup final as they outclassed South China 4-1 in front of a crowd of 3,200 at Mong Kok Stadium yesterday.

Second-half substitute Fernando Recio powered home a low drive in the 99th minute to put Kitchee into the lead again after a 1-1 deadlock in the allotted 90 minutes.

South China clinch league hat-trick and hope to raise bar higher in Asia

South China celebrated their third league championship in a row yesterday after coming from behind to beat Convoy Sun Hei 2-1 at Mong Kok Stadium.

The Caroliners, who needed just one point to clinch the Coolpoint Ventilation First Division title, were under pressure after Tomoaki Seino's header in the 36th minute gave Sun Hei the lead.

Web poll backs Lee for top award

Hong Kong international Lee Chi-ho led the public ballot for the HK's Footballer of the Year award when internet voting closed yesterday. The South China right back received 3,130 votes, closely followed by Eastern striker Rodrigo Andreis Galvao on 2,987. Eastern goalkeeper Luciano da Silva was third with 2,727 votes. But public voting accounts for only 25 per cent of the total.

Caroliners scrape through to semis

Defending champions South China scraped through to the semi-finals of the Lanwa International FA Cup, edging out Convoy Sun Hei 1-0 at Mong Kok Stadium yesterday.

A 2,700 crowd with high expectations left disappointed by the overall performance of both sides, with the only exceptional moment coming in the 40th minute when Brazilian Santos Manoel scored for South China.
