Citizen get cup boost before AFC campaign

Citizen received a timely boost ahead of their AFC Cup campaign when they beat newly crowned Senior Shield champions Sunray Cave Sun Hei 1-0 in the quarter-finals of the Halewinner League Cup at Mong Kok Stadium yesterday.

Sun Hei 'will be right for Shield final'

Sunray Cave JC Sun Hei coach Ricardo Rambo promised a different game in the Canbo Senior Shield final after his team were thrashed 4-2 by South China in the BMA First Division at Mong Kok Stadium yesterday.

The two sides meet again in the February 18 final, with the winners going into the AFC Cup.

South China held to a draw by Pegasus in Shield semi-final

South China will have to wait until Christmas Day before finding out whether they are good enough to advance to the Canbo Senior Shield final, after being held to a 2-2 draw by TSW Pegasus in the first leg of the semi-finals at Yuen Long Stadium yesterday. The December 25 return-leg match will be held at Hong Kong Stadium, considered South China's home ground.

South China have lent Leandro Silva to TSW Pegasus. The Brazilian striker returned to the Caroliners this season after steering them into the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup semi-finals in 2009. Despite scoring six goals this season, Silva has been struggling for a regular place in the squad.

Citizen are through to the quarter-finals of the Canbo Senior Shield following a 1-0 victory against Tuen Mun at Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground last night. A spectacular volley from the edge of the box by Paulo Carreiro in the sixth minute easily beat Tuen Mun goalkeeper Wei Zhao.

Rangers red-hot ahead of Caroliners clash

Fourway Rangers set the tone for their clash against South China on Thursday with a 5-2 victory over Sun Hei in the BMA First Division yesterday. Roberto Fronza scored two penalties at Sham Shui Po Sports Ground for Rangers, who replaced South China at the top of the table.

Citizen and Pegasus target final victory to claim AFC Cup spot

Citizen and Tin Shui Wai Pegasus will be competing to join South China as winners of silverware this season when they meet in today's FA Cup final at Hong Kong Stadium.

With the Caroliners having secured the league and Senior Shield titles already, the FA Cup remains the only trophy up for grabs as the season comes to an end today.

Caroliners' treble dream dashed

South China's dream of winning all three domestic titles was dashed when they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Citizen at Yuen Long Stadium yesterday.

Citizen prevailed 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out after the quarter-final match was goalless at the end of 120 minutes.
