Kung Fu Rugby extravaganza to give Hong Kong Sevens fans a kick

The 1974 disco hit Kung Fu Fighting will spring to mind when Hong Kong Sevens fans are treated to a special show on Sunday. Organisers hope the Kung Fu Rugby show will entertain the crowds as part of celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the annual rugby extravaganza.

Check out the IRB’s pick of the 14 best tries from the 2014 Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens – that’s seven each from the HSBC Sevens World Series tournament and the qualifier competition. Included among the selection are tries by champions New Zealand, runners-up England, USA, Spain, France and Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Sevens will have to be pushed back a fortnight to mid-April in 2016 if the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union's ambition to become the climactic final leg of the IRB Sevens World Series is to be realised.

Hong Kong could host final leg of 2016 World Series, says IRB official

Hong Kong will be considered to become the climactic final leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series in 2016, top sevens official Avan Lee said as all stakeholders and the International Rugby Board were to meet in the city on Monday to discuss the game’s well-being and future.
