Unpopular policy address

The Policy Address was more unpopular than any of the previous six such speeches, a poll showed. Just over 35 per cent of 508 respondents to a Hong Kong University survey said they were dissatisfied with the address; nearly 21.7 per cent were satisfied and 35.4 per cent were partly satisfied and partly not.

Keep up standards

Academic excellence does not always conform to conventional standards. History provides many examples of people who rose to prominence without passing statutory examinations. Hong Kong has plenty of examples of successful people whose training was in the university of life.

University closes food outlets after quality complaints

Students and academics at Hong Kong University have been deprived of food for thought after the closure of the canteens yesterday.

About 60 staff from the three canteens on the Pokfulam campus, including administrators, clerks, chefs and cleaners, were given the boot two days ago.

Easier for overseas students

A friend of mine has been studying in England for two years. Although she comes from Hong Kong, she has applied for a place at Hong Kong University (HKU), as an overseas applicant.
