Dancers take professional step

SEVEN graduates of the Hongkong Academy for Performing Arts (APA) and six other talented dancers from overseas are to joint the Hongkong Ballet.

Wang Yong and Zhao Ming will be a principal dancer and a soloist respectively. Both trained in China before receiving scholarships to study at the APA, Mr Wang at the Shanghai Ballet School and Mr Zhao at the Beijing Dance Academy.

Medieval play in Cantonese

THE Hongkong Academy for Performing Arts is presenting Looking for Rainbow in Cantonese from May 19 to 22 at 7.30 pm, with a Saturday matinee at the Academy Drama Theatre.

With music and song, Looking for Rainbow is an adaptation, by Colin George, of four medieval plays performed in the northern English town of Wakefield in the 15th century.

APA serves up a comedy

THE Hongkong Academy for Performing Arts will stage Happy Birthday (in Cantonese), a comedy written by Marc Camoletti, from March 29 to April 3, at 7.45 pm in the APA Studio Theatre, with a Saturday matinee at 2.45 pm.

Happy Birthday is the third play in the 1993 APA Drama Production series presented by directing and design majors.
