Body achieves watchdog goals

SINCE its foundation, the primary goals of Hongkong Society of Accountants (HKSA), were to establish a standards watchdog and ensure adequate training of members.

It has continued to address these issues during its 20-year history.

In July 1973, the newly formed society began issuing council statements which laid down the standards to be met by all members.

Adding to two decades of success

THE Hongkong Society of Accountants (HKSA) has grown tremendously over the past 20 years both in size and strength.

Membership has increased from 500 in 1973 to 6,500 in 1992 and the number of registered students from fewer than 100 to 17,000.

The number of secretariat staff has increased from six to more than 50.
