US Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel promised “unwavering” support from the United States to its ally South Korea on Wednesday after North Korea severed a military hotline with Seoul.

A woman says she was trapped in a lift for more than half an hour because the emergency-hotline receptionist for the lift-maintenance company could not speak English.

When Sinead Yeo, an English-speaking Singaporean, went to visit a friend in Asiarich Court, Central, on Thursday, the lift suddenly stopped.
