More than 300 people contacted the Department of Health hotline yesterday morning over news that two skin-whitening creams, Rosedew and La Rose Blanche, had been found to contain high levels of mercury.

Factory owner Choi Lin-chu jumped at the chance of becoming an 'Elder Ring' counsellor - but has found the task harder than she expected.

Since undergoing training, she spends two hours each week at the hotline centre in Lok Fu, taking calls from elderly people in need.

Ms Choi said the job was a lot harder than she expected.

I CALLED the Immigration Department hotline 824 6111 at 11.45am on September 18. After 10 minutes' trying, I eventually got through to the hotline but was told that ''the lines are busy, please hold and we will answer your call shortly''.

RTHK on mission to help youths

THE staff of Radio Television Hongkong (RTHK)'s Youth Hotline recently took part in an opening ceremony of a youth project at the New Town Plaza in Sha Tin to show their support for young people.

The ''Towards 2000 - Live for Prosperity'' project, organised by the Chinese YMCA of Hongkong, is aimed at promoting social awareness and a sense of responsibility among youngsters.
