Huafeng shares up after buying tea producer


The Hong Kong share price of Huafeng Group Holdings rose 8 per cent yesterday, after the loss-making blanket maker announced it would acquire a mainland tea producer controlled by the family of Huafeng's chairman for HK$2.49 billion.

Huafeng Textile budgets HK$120m for new factory

Huafeng Textile International Group, a Fujian fabric processor, plans to spend HK$120 million to build a knitting plant as part of a drive to expand its upstream business.

The company expects that the new facility will contribute about HK$160 million in annual sales after completion in two years, according to company secretary and financial controller Sonny Li Mow-ming.

Corrections & clarifications

In an article appearing on B1 on September 23, 'SFC wins first dual-filing prosecution', we reported on a successful prosecution of Huafeng Textile International Group and its director, Cai Yang Bo, by the Securities and Futures Commission and noted that Huafeng issued a 'fraudulent' announcement on July 25, 2004. This was an incorrect description of the announcement by Huafeng.
