Hunan Nonferrous warns of net loss

Hunan Nonferrous Metals, the mainland's largest producer of non-ferrous metals excluding aluminium, warned it would post a net loss for the first half as a result of lower product prices and high production and financial costs.

Hunan Nonferrous posts loss as prices fall

Hunan Nonferrous Metals Corp, the mainland's biggest producer of zinc and tungsten, posted a net loss of 212.4 million yuan (HK$ 241.39 million) in the first half because of lower metal prices and weak demand. This compares with a 74.17 million yuan profit for the same period last year. Turnover dropped 30 per cent to 6.2 billion yuan. The company did not declare a dividend.

Hunan Zhuye Torch Metals, the mainland-listed subsidiary of H share Hunan Nonferrous Metals, plans to sell about 790 million yuan worth of shares to fund an acquisition that would make it the country's largest zinc and lead smelter.
