Underlying profit for last year at Hysan Development, the largest landlord in Causeway Bay, jumped 26 per cent year on year to HK$2.04 billion thanks in part to the contribution from the recently redeveloped Hysan Place in the prime shopping district.

Tree specialists warned yesterday the seven chukrasia tabularis, or Burmese almond wood, earmarked for Kai Chiu Road may be too large and unsightly for the congested street, and might grow sprawling roots that could push up the pavement.

Apple to open third Hong Kong store in Hysan Place

Apple, the world's largest technology company, has confirmed it will open its third retail store in Hong Kong on Saturday at Hysan Place in Causeway Bay.

The launch of this new store, the company's 10th in China, was announced yesterday on Apple's Hong Kong website.

Just when we thought Causeway Bay couldn’t get any more crowded, we decided to stick another mega mall right on the Hennessy thoroughfare between Sogo and Times Square. This past August, Hysan Place opened its doors amidst great hype and expectations.

Eslite bookstore's 24-hour model fails in Hong Kong's tough market

The new Taiwanese mega bookstore in Causeway Bay has revised its round-the-clock operations after a month-long trial.

The rationale behind that decision could be summed up in a talk by Eslite founder and chairman Robert Wu Ching-yu at the University of Hong Kong: "Running a bookstore in Hong Kong, I believe, requires a little more shrewdness and a little less romance."

Chanel launches new ring collection at Hysan Place

The exhibition area on the top floor of the recently opened Hysan Place mall in Causeway Bay was abuzz when Chanel booked the new hot spot to launch its latest Ultra ring collection.

Guests at the packed preview on Friday included Canto-pop star Joey Yung Cho-yee, models Kathy Chow Man-kei, Ana Rivera and Jocelyn Luko, and socialites Candy Law and Suki Tsui.

Hysan Group takes town planners to court to get building restrictions eased

Developer the Hysan Group yesterday challenged the Town Planning Board in court over the board's refusal to relax building restrictions on various sites in Causeway Bay.

Hysan, a major landlord in Causeway Bay, argued in the Court of First Instance that the building restrictions amounted to micro-management and would stifle its freedom to design the buildings.
