Assault trial of Freemason in 2012 'unusual'

The conduct of Freemasons in Hong Kong has come under renewed scrutiny after senior legal figures questioned the handling of alleged indecent assaults by a member at their Zetland Hall headquarters in Mid-Levels.

Indecent assault charge withdrawn against Renaissance College teacher

A teacher accused of assaulting a woman during the Hong Kong Sevens rugby tournament in March was put on a one-year bond in Eastern Court yesterday. Matthew McManaway's charge of indecent assault was withdrawn, and he was bound over for HK$1,000.

Teacher's vital omission casts doubt on student's 'indecent assault'

The barrister defending a student accused of indecently assaulting his teacher has questioned a vital omission in a letter the educator's lawyers sent to her pupil.

Ho Man-tai, 18, admits punching his teacher, tugging her hair and putting keys into her mouth, causing her to bleed, but he denies touching her breast.

Teacher to take stand again while lawyers query 'indecent assault' claim

A secondary school teacher who accused a pupil of indecent assault will take the stand again in March to respond to doubts that defence lawyers have cast on the credibility of her evidence.

The doubts stemmed from a lawyer's letter that the victim sent to defendant Ho Man-tai, 18, this month, in which she asked for compensation without mentioning the alleged sexual assault.

A self-styled performing artist dubbed the "Nicholas Tse of Victoria Park" was sentenced to 21 days in jail yesterday after being convicted of groping a model while filming a live Web broadcast.

Deputy Magistrate Allan Wyeth said the act was "completely unwelcomed by the woman … and the victim was in a vulnerable situation".

Doctor sentenced to community service for molestation

A young public hospital doctor who admitted he had molested patients while he was on night duty was sentenced to 180 hours of community service in Kwun Tong Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Tang Man-chun, 26, had earlier pleaded guilty to three counts of indecent assault.

Oral sex with daughter brings 6 years' jail

A man was jailed for six years yesterday for inducing his daughter to perform oral sex on him, and asking her to recruit two friends to do so for money. The unemployed man, 51, pleaded guilty in the Court of First Instance to eight counts of indecent conduct towards a child under 16, and one of indecent assault.

Student sent to training centre for sex attack

A student was yesterday sent to a training centre for molesting two girls and extorting HK$50 from a third girl. Fan Chun-hin, 19, pleaded guilty in the District Court to two counts of indecent assault for touching the breasts of two girls, aged between 13 and 15. He also admitted threatening to molest an 11-year-old girl if she refused to pay him.

Salesman accused of intimidation

A car salesman appeared for trial yesterday in the District Court after pleading not guilty to one charge of aiding and abetting the making of child pornography, two of indecent assault and two of criminal intimidation. The court was told the case against Chan Hoi-tat, 32, involved a 12-year-old girl, nude photographs, oral sex and blackmail threats.

16 months' jail for indecent assault

A salesman was jailed for 16 months yesterday for molesting a nightclub hostess in a hotel room while she was drunk. Abel Lee Chun-ming, 35, pleaded guilty in the District Court to one count of indecent assault, which took place on April 30. The hostess, 25, called her husband for help when she discovered what was happening and the matter was reported to the police.
