Virus drama fails to catch fire

The A-lister-packed Contagion tells the story of a deadly virus that spreads quickly throughout the world through casual daily contact among people of all walks of life.

The movie opens on the second day of the outbreak, after American Beth Emhoff (Gwyneth Paltrow) contracts the virus while on a business trip in Hong Kong and brings it home to the US.

Swine flu patient, 61, dies

A 61-year-old swine flu patient died in Princess Margaret Hospital on Saturday. The man, with a history of chronic disease, was admitted with flu symptoms on Friday, the Centre for Health Protection said. The news came as 12 more patients were admitted to intensive care units in public hospitals with swine flu from Saturday to yesterday.

Woman critical after swine flu jab

Authorities are investigating whether a 73-year-old who developed limb numbness after a swine flu jab on December 31 has Guillain-Barre syndrome, the Centre for Health Protection said. She was admitted to Kwong Wah Hospital on March 11 and was in a critical condition yesterday. Meanwhile, an 18-month-old boy who contracted swine flu was in a critical condition in Tuen Mun Hospital.
