Swimming pool plan attacked

A new indoor swimming pool complex proposed for Victoria Park yesterday drew fire from the Harbourfront Enhancement Committee for being too big. Review subcommittee members also suggested the complex's rooftop be used as a harbour-viewing platform for the public.

Town planning

Many cities, run by elected politicians, make planning decisions in full view of the public. In Hong Kong, few planning meetings are open, although the planning department is informing and consulting the public more about development plans, particularly on its website. Now the Institute of Planners is calling for revival of a proposal to make town planning meetings open to the public.
