Rosvoorujeny delegation will visit China

A delegation from the Russian state arms company Rosvoorujeny will visit China on May 10 to conclude an 820 million yuan (HK$760 million) sale of a submarine, the Interfax news agency reported.

The submarine could be delivered this year, according to the Krasnoy Sormovo firm, which is building the vessel.

Ruhrgas wins Gazprom stake

GERMANY'S Ruhrgas won the race to secure a 2.5 per cent stake in the natural gas giant Gazprom put up for sale by the Russian Government, Interfax news agency reported yesterday. The pilots threatened last month to strike over the festive holidays.

Russian firm gets loan

A GROUP of Western banks led by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is to grant the Russian Novorossiysk shipping firm Novoship a US$225 million loan to buy 11 new tankers.

According to Interfax news agency, the tankers, being built in Croatia, are to be delivered this year.

Ukraine to sell state line's ships

THE Ukrainian government has decided to sell 10 ships of the state-run Black Sea Shipping line to help pay off the company's debts, the Interfax news agency reported in Kiev.

The Black Sea Line has debts of US$263 million. About 30 of its ships have been impounded. Analysts say the company might be ruled insolvent this year.
