ISMA seeks mandate for wider role

THE International Ship Managers' Association (ISMA) wants to become a representative trade association of ship managers.

A proposal to this effect was endorsed at the association's annual general meeting held in Hong Kong this week.

Flag-waving out of place

SOME in the local shipping community were surprised to find Cypriot Communications Minister, Adamos Adamides, at a cocktail reception at the American Club on Wednesday.

The reception was organised by the International Ship Managers' Association (ISMA) the evening before it held its executive meeting, the first in Hong Kong, yesterday.

Seven receive ISMA code accreditation

SEVEN of the 35 members of the International Ship Managers' Association (ISMA) have received their ISMA quality assurance certificates, according to the association.

Another nine members have applied for their audits and are either undergoing accreditation (four companies) or are awaiting the full audit to start in the next three months.

ISMA hastens code progress

MEMBERS of the International Ship Managers' Association (ISMA) have reported accelerating progress towards certification under the ISMA Code of Ship Management Standards.

The code is generally accepted as the most comprehensive quality assurance programme for the ship management industry.
